Shared Responsibilities

Who does what?

The success of the Wayne LEADS is completely dependent upon full participation of all employees, supervisors, senior leadership, and Human Resources. Managers and supervisors are to be held accountable for the development of their employees, as well as for compliance with the Wayne LEADS.

Employee Responsibilities

  • Employee specific responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with supervisor to link individual tasks and duties to performance objectives and aligning performance objectives to department objectives
  • Scheduling and participating in Mid-year Progress Review meetings
  • Ensuring individual objectives are updated as needed
  • Gathering data for Mid-year Progress Review and Final Assessment
  • Identifying career interests and development needs
  • Drafting and executing the Employee Development Plan (EDP)

Supervisor Responsibilities

Supervisors provides support and direction throughout the year by:

  • Communicating the Strategic Plan and department/unit goals and guiding position objectives
  • Discussing and approving the performance objectives and appropriate weightings
  • Discussing and approving the Employee Development Plan
  • Participating in Mid-year Progress Review meetings
  • Conducting the Final Assessment meetings
  • Providing ongoing coaching, support and feedback

Human Resources Responsibilities

Human Resources is responsible for:

  • Providing clarity on the steps in this process
  • Helping employees and supervisors find the right resources and tools
  • Reviewing and approving final assessments
  • Providing just-in-time performance consulting to all employees and supervisors

Senior Leadership Responsibilities

Senior Management is responsible for:

  • Cascading goals throughout the entire organization
  • Assisting in building a culture of accountability and mutual respect
  • Building a culture that supports continuous learning
  • Providing cross-departmental / cross-functional perspective
  • Holding management members accountable for effectively developing their employees
  • Ensuring complete compliance with Wayne LEADS
