Phase II: Mid-Year Progress Review

Why do we have a mid-year progress review?

Purpose

Mid-Year Progress Reviews are used to assess an employee’s performance year-to-date as compared with agreed upon Objectives. This is the time to modify or "recalibrate" these Objectives, as business needs dictate.

If an employee’s performance is falling short of his or her Objectives, discussion with the supervisor should direct the employee to getting "back on track." The necessary tools and support should also be discussed to assist in the employee’s improvement. (See Performance Improvement Plan section.)

The Mid-Year Progress Review usually occurs six months after the Performance Planning process, or March of the current year. It is to be scheduled by the employee and supervisor during the Performance Planning meeting.
