1997 SCIENCE FAIR AWARDS

The Center for Molecular and Cellular Toxicology with Human Applications participated as a
professional association making awards at the Metropolitan Detroit Science and Engineering Fair
in 1996 and 1997. Three Judges participated from the Center for Molecular and Cellular Toxicology (Drs.
Michael McCabe, Thomas Kocarek, and Mary Oriold Dereski). Four students were chosen to
receive awards from the Center for Molecular and Cellular Toxicology with Human Applications
(two awards in the Junior 7th and 8th grade category, two awards in the Senior 9th through 12th
grade category, and one award in the State catagory. An award was given at the 1997 Science
and Humanities Symposium.
An awards luncheon was held in Wayne State University's McGregor
Memorial Conference Center to honor the students. The students, their families, science teachers
and school principal were invited along with all Center Members. Certificates along with savings
bonds ($500 first prize, $200 second prize) were presented at the luncheon. The students
displayed their projects prior to and during the luncheon.
